Diving is on the spotlight

The Limassol Tourism Board is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a European project to upgrade the diving product of Limassol. The project will run for three years and among other actions, it will finance the creation of an underwater sculpture museum and diving routes in the Limassol sea waters.

Limassol features two artificial reefs created in Amathus and Dasoudi areas by the Department of Fisheries and Marine Research. The artificial reef in the Amathus area was created near the ancient port which is underwater today, and the area is ideal for snorkeling. The artificial reef in Dasoudi includes two wrecks that create a marine habitat rich in flora and fauna and is increasingly popular with divers.

To complement the above developments, promote them and upgrade the Limassol diving experience, the Limassol Tourism Board will create an underwater sculpture park in the Dasoudi area closed to the wrecks. The company will also create diving routes with the relevant underwater signage to increase the interest of divers in the area and offer them fascinating facts during their exploration.

With a total of 3,5 million divers in Europe, this investment along with a relevant promotional program, intends to put Limassol on the map and to also upgrade the holiday experience of any traveler who will have the opportunity to add this activity in his/her holiday experience.
