Concluding a series of meetings with the newly-elected mayors of greater Limassol, Limassol Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) President Costas Galatariotis visited the Kato Polemidia mayor Nicos Anastasiou and the two exchanged ideas on issues of common interest.
The Chamber president briefed the mayor on the initiatives and activities of the LCCI which involve not just offering services to the members but also promoting important infrastructure projects throughout the district of Limassol. Specific reference was made to the Pentakomo Science & Technology Park and the casino resort in western Limassol, both of which are in the pipeline, as well as to the Chamber’s efforts for the acquisition and sinking of an out-of-use oil platform with a view to creating an artificial reef for diving purposes.
Mr. Galatariotis also referred to the All About Limassol portal which operates under the auspices of the Limassol Chamber and pointed out the possibilities available for municipalities to promote through it their own activities and events. He also singled out the interest and participation of the LCCI in a number of European programs and the desirability of the Chamber and Limassol municipalities jointly participating.
On his part, the Kato Polemidia mayor referred to the particular economic features of the municipality, with emphasis on the existence of Small and Medium Industries zone that needed to be developed in order to realize its full potential.
Mr. Anastasiou and Mr. Galatariotis also exchanged views on the area that used to house the former British Verengaria settlement, which is within the boundaries of the Kato Polemidia municipality and possible way for its optimum utilization.
