The Limassol Chamber of Commerce and Industry has joined the EU co-funded project ELIA (Excellence in Learning, Innovation, and Agriculture: A Centre of Vocational Excellence for the Olive Sector) as a project partner.
ELIA is a
four-year Erasmus+ project that started in May 2026 and brings together
universities, chambers of commerce, cooperatives, research organisations,
foundations, public authorities, and SMEs. The project is coordinated by the Chamber
of Halkidiki and works as one Centre of Vocational Excellence for the European
olive sector.
The project
includes partners from seven Mediterranean countries. Its main goal is to
improve vocational education and training, encourage innovation and support
more sustainable practices in the olive sector. ELIA is built on four main
pillars: innovation, inclusion, cooperation and long-term development. The
project supports modern vocational training, equal learning opportunities,
strong partnerships across seven countries and lasting improvements in the
olive sector.
The first
transnational project meeting was held in Thessaloniki in June 2026, with the
participation of Officers of the Limassol Chamber of Commerce and
Industry. During the meeting, the project partners had the opportunity to get
to know each other, discuss the project's activities, and plan the next steps
for its successful implementation.
The Limassol
Chamber will work closely with the project partners over the next four years
and contribute to improving skills and innovation in the olive sector in
Limassol and across Cyprus, while encouraging cooperation between companies,
training providers and public organisations.
