With a renewed and fully digital design, the member states of the European Standardization Organizations CEN and CENELEC have been notified of their Work Program for 2024. European Standardization promises to play a key role in addressing Europe's evolving needs and challenges. Succeeding in the green and digital transition, strengthening European industry and promoting a competitive, innovative and inclusive economy are among the challenges that standardization organizations are being asked to act on.
The fact that the European elections will take place in the coming months is a unique opportunity for the European Union to renew its institutions and harness the power of standards to shape the common future of Europeans. The CEN and CENELEC Work Program 2024 sets the course for the future regarding European standardization. It provides an overview of the main standardization developments that CEN and CENELEC are ready to implement in 2024, in 14 standardization areas. For each area, the reader has the possibility to be informed of the number of standards published by CEN and CENELEC and a detailed analysis of the subjects on which standardization work is expected to start. Finally, reference is made to the most important strategic points that will shape the development of CEN and CENELEC during 2024, as well as important workshops that will take place within 2024 to inform the stakeholders at European level.
The work program also focuses on three key horizontal themes: Accessibility, Sustainability and Smart Society. The main aim for 2024 is to be a year of progress, cooperation and development. CEN and CENELEC look forward to working actively with members and stakeholders and with the European institutions to build an efficient, inclusive and future-oriented European standardization system for the benefit of the economy, industry and citizens of Europe.
The Cyprus Organization for Standardization (CYS) as a full member of both European Organizations for Standardization (CEN&CENELEC) fully embraces the aspirations as recorded in their Work Program which will form the basis and horizon for the preparation of the Organization's Annual Strategic Plan for the 2024.
