Plans for the expansion of the private hospital Mediterranean Hospital of Cyprus, which will cost around €13 million, have been put on track. The Department of Environment has already given the green light for the unification of the plots that exist between the two existing buildings of the hospital, on which three new buildings will be erected, bringing the total area of the hospital to 11,295 sq.m.
According to the general spatial plan, a multi-storey parking space will be constructed, while the other two buildings of 4,468 sq.m., which will have a common basement of three floors, a ground floor and three floors, will be an extension of the hospital's facilities, with patient rooms, surgeries, clinics and support areas. . The parking lot will include three basements, ground floor, and four floors and will have a capacity of 385 cars, bringing the parking spaces to 515 in total.
Traffic measures
In order to alleviate the traffic problem in the already congested road network of the area, a study was carried out after consultation of the Department of Public Works with the project's designers, which provides for the conclusion of an agreement with the Limassol Bus Company serving the hospital, as well as the formation of a bus stop in consultation with the Planning Authority.
In addition, the management of the hospital will prepare a Plan for the Movement of its staff, which will request from a large part of the staff to go to work by bus using incentives/ disincentives. Finally, parking spaces in the multi-storey parking area will be available free of charge to all users for the first two hours of parking. After the first two hours there will be a charge depending on the duration of parking.
