Argonaftis Tours began its operations as an exclusive excursion company in
1997.
In recent years, it has become one of the leading excursion operators in Cyprus. Its reputation is based on the high quality of its daily excursion programme and the excellent service it provides islandwide.
The Excursion Department's team of staff covers the whole island while control and co-ordination are centralised in the company's head office in Limassol. The Excursion Department operates Russian & English guided tours and assists clients and other tour operators and agents in Cyprus, offering them the option to use its excursion programme, thereby fulfilling their clients' needs and sending them away with a memorable recollection of their stay in Cyprus.
A dynamic and enthusiastic team supports the programme and every year their aim is to improve and expand the variety of sightseeing tours, nature tours, excursions, boat trips, jeep safaris, special interest activities and extra ad hoc events related to art and culture.
Clients may travel by coach or take private excursions in any type of
vehicle, go on a Jeep Safari or experience octopus fishing, scuba diving or donkey
riding, which are just some of the many special interests on offer.
In 1997, the company came up with the idea of creating the Argonaftis Donkey Farm near Kelokedhara village in the Xeros river valley, one of the most untouched and tranquil parts of the island.
The aim was not only to offer a special experience to clients but also to provide veterinary care and a healthy breeding programme, allowing people to enjoy and experience frequent new births. At present, the Argonaftis Donkey Farm is home to 90 donkeys, all microchipped and with their own medical records.
This project forms part of the “Village Culture - Donkey riding” excursion, which gives clients the chance to travel through mountain villages that have remained unchanged over the years, to see the donkeys in their own environment, to enjoy a quiet ride through the countryside to the 13th century Sindi monastery, to taste homemade traditional food, wine, zivania, to dance & have fun.
