CMMI Co-organises Cyprus EU Presidency Conference “Riding the Wave from Ocean Science to Policy and Ocean R&D to Market”

The Cyprus Marine and Maritime Institute (CMMI), in collaboration with the Eratosthenes Centre of Excellence and the Deputy Ministry of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy, are co-organising a conference entitled “Riding the Wave from Ocean Science to Policy & Ocean R&D to Market”, in the framework of the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the European Union (EU).

The conference will take place on the 11 - 12 May 2026 in Ammochostos (Ayia Napa), Cyprus. It is expected to bring together stakeholders from across the research, policy and innovation ecosystems fostering structured dialogue, networking opportunities, and the exchange of cutting-edge knowledge, promoting interdisciplinary collaboration among researchers, policymakers, industry leaders, civil society representatives and environmental organisations.

The conference aims to serve as a platform for translating pioneering marine science and technological research into evidence-based policy and market-ready solutions. It seeks to address pressing ocean-related challenges, while advancing a competitive and sustainable blue economy, fully aligned with environmental stewardship principles.

The programme will feature insightful panel discussions, plenary sessions, interactive workshops, thematic exhibitions, and live technology demonstrations within targeted thematic clusters in view of accelerating scaling and commercialisation of innovative maritime solutions.

This two-day high-level event showcases Cyprus’ commitment vis-à-vis the protection and sustainable management of marine resources and further reflects its strategic support for the implementation of the European Ocean Pact, contributing to collective European efforts to safeguard the ocean, strengthen the blue economy, and enhance the resilience and well-being of coastal communities.
