The Limassol Chamber of Commerce and Industry opened the doors to the Limassol Industrial Museum 'Kyriakos Hamboullas' on November 1st celebrating the industrial history of Limassol.
With more than 100 + visitors from all ages, visitors had the opportunity to explore the industrial history of Limassol through authentic machines, tools and equipment that left their mark on the city’s development.
The CMMI / MaRITeC-X with its own booth connected the industrial history with today’s opportunities in the blue economy. Children and students explored the blue economy sector through a ‘Spin the Wheel’ game, answering questions about the sea, marine life, and the threats posed by marine pollution. Visitors also had the chance to learn about the Proteus Buoy using VR goggles, with a dedicated video explaining its purpose, uses and functions.
The activities offered a fun and interactive way for participants of all ages to learn about the blue economy, marine life and innovative marine technologies.
The CMMI – MaRITeC-X project is funded with €30 million, of which €15 million comes from the European Union and €15 million from the Republic of Cyprus, aiming to develop new maritime infrastructure and strengthen the maritime economy in Cyprus.
