Aiming to create memorable outdoor experiences, the Limassol Tourism Development and Promotion Company, in collaboration with the Cyprus Climbing Club and the Foinikaria Community Council, has developed a new rock-climbing site in the village of Foinikaria, within the Amathus Municipal Boundaries. Recently, signage has been added along both the road leading to the site and the hiking trail required to reach the climbing area.
Upon reaching the top of the rock, climbers can enjoy breathtaking views of the Germasogia Dam and its lush green surroundings. To the south, the stunning views of the sea and the Limassol coastline are truly mesmerizing.
This activity provides an escape from daily life, just a short distance from the city (only 7 kilometres from Limassol). Rock climbing does not require prior experience or special skills. However, climbers must be in good physical condition, and the activity should be undertaken with guidance from experienced instructors.
As Limassol Tourism Development and Promotion Company President Mr. Tony Antoniou stated, the climbing site in Foinikaria is yet another project by the company aimed at enriching the tourism experience in Limassol’s countryside by leveraging each area’s unique strengths. He acknowledged the contribution of the Deputy Ministry of Tourism, which funds these initiatives through ETAL, and emphasized that efforts will continue with a variety of projects in the future.
