YoungShip Cyprus 'MENTORING' pilot program and the Supply Chain Management Program and Maritime Studies, MIEEK

In the framework of supporting young professionals and students in the field of shipping, YoungShip Cyprus recently launched the pilot program 'Mentoring' in collaboration with the "Supply Chain Management and Maritime Studies" Program of MIEEK, of the Directorate of Secondary Technical Vocational Education and Training of the Ministry of Education, Sports and Youth.

The program aims to better prepare students for their entry into the labor market. In the first action, "Career Day", which took place at the offices of Fameline Holding Group, members of YoungShip Cyprus talked to the students of the program about the operations and daily life in various departments of shipping companies. The fifteen minute group rotation gave the students the opportunity to hear about all the departments represented. The next action is planned for the beginning of the new year on the topic "Interview Preparation".

Ms. Lina Hellina, Program Coordinator, expressed her satisfaction with the program, the culmination of the curriculum's long-standing partnership with YoungShip Cyprus. "We sincerely thank YoungShip Cyprus. The mentoring program is a unique opportunity for our students," he emphasized, "to network with young professionals in the field, to feel that they have support beyond the school in their effort to best prepare for finding a job or to strengthen acquaintances for those students that are already employed in the maritime industry.”

The President of YoungShip Cyprus, Mr. Andreas Christoforou, stated that the focus of the organization is to strengthen the knowledge and skills of young people, while at the same time promoting the voice of young people in decision-making centers at National and International level. Our role is to promote the new generation in the shipping sector, providing them with information and organizing actions that help to strengthen their skills, as well as the acquisition of new knowledge and experiences. Young people are Cyprus' most important asset and we must invest in them. Through our activities, we offer our members the opportunity to expand their personal and professional acquaintances, as well as to be educated, to be informed and trained on issues that concern shipping at a local and global level.
