An event for the operation of the European Digital Innovation Hub (DiGiNN) was held on Wednesday, October 26 at the Cyprus Institute, in the presence of the Deputy Minister of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy, Mr. Filippo Hatjizacharia.
DiGiNN, which bears the seal of the European Commission, is
a strategic partnership of the most important Cypriot organizations in the
fields of high technology, research and entrepreneurship, such as CCCI, PWC, CYENS and KIOOS,
under the coordination of the Cyprus Institute.
The CCCI as well as the local Chambers of each city participate as a main partner of DiGiNN. The Limassol Chamber of Commerce
& Industry (LCCI) as a partner in the Digital Innovation Hub aims at
the digital transformation of small and medium businesses in Limassol, but also
at cultivating a digital culture in society.
As part of the event, an open discussion was held, entitled:
"Cyprus in the Digital Age: Opportunities and Challenges", in which
Mr. Dimitris Skouridis, Chief Scientist, Konstantinos Giorkatzis, Mayor of
Nicosia and Chairman of the Board of Directors of CYENS, Marios Tsiakkis,
Secretary General of the CCCI,
Minos Georgakis, Director of the Consulting Services Department of PwC Cyprus
and Christos Panagiotou, Deputy Director of the Center of Excellence for
Research and Innovation "Koios", participated.
The General Secretary of the CCCI, Mr. Tsiakkis, among others, expressed his belief that DiGiNN will be the springboard for Small and Medium Enterprises to undertake the necessary digital transformation which will strengthen their resilience and sustainability.
What is Digital Innovation Hub Cyprus?
DiGiNN, the Cyprus Digital Hub, is a consortium of 11 public sector organizations and private sector chosen by the European Commission to create it European Digital Innovation Hub (EDIH) of Cyprus within the program "Digital Europe". The ultimate goal of DiGiNN is to enhance digital capability of Cyprus, facilitating the widespread integration of digital technologies by Cypriot SMEs, public organizations and Ministries, as well as their use by citizens. The Cyprus node of the EDIH network, DiGiNN will be operational as a one-stop-shop and will cover the entire territory through the information points (info-points) that will be established in all the provinces of Cyprus in Commercial and Industrial Chambers. DiGiNN is co-financed by the European Union and the Deputy Ministry of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy of the Republic of Cyprus.
