The Limassol Tourism Development and Promotion Company, as part of its actions, has placed in ten reference points of the city, Caretta Caretta turtle sculptures, one meter long.
The sculptures are detailed in texture like a real Caretta Caretta and are crafted by local artists:
Starting from the Medieval Castle they follow
Ivi Giannis - Old Port
Maria Michael – Sculpture Park
Elena Siakalli – University Square
Iro Armeuti – Limassol District Office
Aristos Christoforou – Heroes Square
Popi Nikolaou – Archaeological Museum
Giorgos Mourouzis – Public Garden
Dafni Trimiklinioti – Municipal Gallery
Antonis Rizopoulos - Enaerios
The goal of the action is for each turtle with an electronic code (QR code) to lead the visitor to the next reference point to make a circular route where he will discover the historical center of Limassol through a game where he will simultaneously receive information about each point. The action is supported electronically by a digital tool where the map is combined with 360-degree photos and informative material
The creation of a 3D design for the project was done by Interior Designer/Artist Giorgo Mourouzi, while the construction and installation of the sculptures was done by the company KKG Construction ltd. The digital tool was designed by DuooVision. Through this specific initiative, the Limassol Tourism Development and Promotion Company attempts to combine technology, gamification, artistic creation and awareness regarding the protection of the species. The action has been implemented with the support of the Deputy Ministry of Tourism and the Limassol Municipality.
