Providing personalized and flexible experiences that can be adapted to the needs of a traveler are a priority for the Limassol Tourism Development and Promotion Company, aiming at traveler satisfaction, recommending the destination to friends through social networks and creating returning visitors all year round.
LTC proceeded at the end of 2021 with the mapping and recording of a new cycling route, aimed at cyclists, experienced and non-experienced, who wish to explore the beauties of the western province of Limassol.
‘The Old Carriage’ Route is a 9-kilometer ride starting from Kalamonas and finishing at Aspri area. The route is linear and is suitable for mountain bikes. The cyclist can enjoy the natural beauty of the area, the flora and fauna, as well as the rocky parts of the route. More specifically, the cyclist will come across bridges, rural land and farms ending up at a high point where the view of ‘Aphrodite’s Rock’ makes the effort worth it. Throughout the route, information can be found regarding the history of the Old Carriage road and the nearby points of interest.
The Limassol Tourism Board in cooperation with the Pissouri Community Board, created supportive infrastructure such as bike stands, bike repair stations, benches, signage, wooden kiosk at a viewpoint and map panels featuring a QR code for visitors to scan and have all the necessary information on their smart phone. The route goes through a picturesque rural area with spectacular sea views and offers the chance to cyclists to discover another point of unique beauty and historical value.
