Eight major projects, with a horizon of
implementation in the next six years, have been included by the competent
authorities for Limassol, in the framework of National Recovery Plan, which is
before the European Commission. These projects will modernize the city, make it
greener, enhance its tourism product and generally contribute to the
realization of better living standards. The projects promoted will also cater
to needs identified by European institutions in their reports. The eight more
important projects for Limassol are:
- Creation of a marine
aquaculture unit in Pentakomo - construction of a collective
infrastructure to serve the marine aquaculture units (port and land
facilities) operating in the wider area of Vasiliko-Moni (€29 million).
- Establishment
of a task force and study for the promotion of the creation of the first
Ecological Industrial Scientific Park with the aim of promoting the
construction of green technology equipment (e.g. RES / solar energy)
through the operation of clusters by local and foreign construction
entities, in collaboration with academic & research centres and
utilization of special incentives
- Implementation
of the Limassol Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan, including bike lanes, bus
lanes and accessibility and movement of cyclists, pedestrians and people
with mobility difficulties.
- Creation of an open innovation laboratory /
ecosystem with a focus on the user (smart living lab) for the development
of innovative solutions for Intelligent Water Resources Management in
Limassol (€13 million).
- Implementation of flood protection projects in
the Ypsonas Municipality
- Upgrade of Limassol General Hospital and the
Department of Accidents & Emergencies, creation of a contagious
diseases unit (€700.000) and expansion of the dialysis.
- Creation of a model Technical School (new
facilities of the Limassol Technical School in Polemidia)
8. Construction of the
Apostolos Loukas new Special School and the Red Cross school for rehabilitation
(€12.4 million).
