This year’s Annual General Meeting of the Limassol Chamber of Commerce and Industry, held on October 29, was a members only event, as respect and compliance with the health protocols imposed by the COVID19 pandemic, left no room for the customary official part with the participation of cabinet ministers, MPs and other officials. For the same reason, and in order to avoid overcrowding, the elections the new LCCI Board of Directors of EVEL, were postponed to Sunday, November 1st.
In the context of the Meeting, in addition to the unanimous approval of the Annual Report and the Financial Statements of the Chamber for 2019, outgoing President Costas Galatariotis proceeded with a concise report on the the six years 2014-20, with reference to the actions and initiatives taken in the direction of offering additional and upgraded services to members, as well as highlighting and promoting the development needs of the city and district of Limassol.
He referred, among other things, to the Chamber active involvement with business-oriented European Programs, to the launching of the Chamber electronic newspaper "Entrepreneurial Limassol", to the Business Barometer, as well as to actions taken in support of a New Industrial Policy and affordable rental housing. He also noted the very strong financial position of the Chamber in every respect as well as the significant upgrades in the building infrastructure of the organization which included, among others, the installation of a modern photovoltaic system which, in addition to being in line with the character of LCCI as a Green Office, has already brought significant savings in electricity consumption. Concluding his speech, Mr. Galatariotis stated that what was achieved, for which the best judges are the Chamber members themselves, was the result of collective work and thanked both his colleagues on the Board of Directors and the Chamber staff.
