A wide range of issues of economic interest were discussed in the context of recent separate visits to the Limassol Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) by delegations of AKEL and the Democratic Rally. Both party delegations met with Chamber President Costas Galatariotis and the members of the Chamber Executive Committee and the exchanged views on issues pertaining to the national economy, in light of the crisis caused by the coronavirus pandemic, as well as on Limassol issues, especially those concerning infrastructure projects, in addition to matters that impact directly on the Limassol business community, including port charges.
Both the AKEL delegation, led by the Secretary General Andros Kyprianou, and the Democratic Rally one led President Averof Neophytou, after praising the multi-year excellent cooperation with the Limassol Chamber, received a number of suggestions from the President and the LCCI Executive Committee. Such referred both to the current economic situation in Cyprus and the need for special support in the field of tourism, which has admittedly been hit hardest by the coronavirus crisis, as well as to development projects Limassol is in need of, several of which remain pending.
