The Limassol Tourism Development and Promotion Company Ltd undertook the promotion of the cultural wealth of the countryside, starting from the area known as the ‘Koumandaria’ villages, in cooperation with the Commissioner for the Development of Mountain Communities, Mr. Costas Hambiaouris. At a meeting on Friday, June 5, 2020, at the Commissioner's office, the local Presidents of the ‘Koumandaria’ Community Councils, gave the green light for the implementation of this initiative, which provides for the immediate preparation of a feasibility study of a network of cultural routes and experiences, which will enrich the tourist product of the Limassol rural areas.
The routes will be offered both in organized form and for independent visitors. The Limassol Tourism Board undertook the planning and promotion of the routes, supporting the Government's strategy for the further development of the mountain communities. As stated by the Chairman of the Board, Mr. Tony Antoniou, ‘Koumandaria’ villages hide a treasure that we must highlight to our visitors, while helping the local economies. The positive attitude of all the Presidents of the Community Councils, as well as the support of the Limassol Community Association and the Limassol Development Company, gives us the opportunity to start this project, which we hope will be extended to the entire Limassol province in the future.
