In the context of the European Program CIVITAS DESTINATIONS, the Limassol Tourism Development and Promotion Company, organized a Poster competition with the theme ‘I travel by bus’, among primary school children in the Limassol region, aiming to raise public awareness about the use of sustainable transportation in the city and province of Limassol. The aim of the competition is to capture through images or collages of images or collages of other materials (e.g. Recyclable material) everyday life in relation to transportation by bus in the city or province of Limassol.
Primary school students participated with inspired and innovative creations to win one of the three children’s bicycles and helmets offered to the top three winners of the competition. The results of the competition will be announced, and the winners will be awarded in June 2020. Twenty creations will be selected to be showcased in an outdoor exhibition, which will take place in September 2020, as part of the European Mobility Week.
According to the Chairman of the Limassol Tourism Board, Mr. Tony Antoniou, ‘Recognizing the difficulties the pandemic has brought to our lives with the quarantine, we wanted to offer the children incentives to work on something creative and to give some thought to the importance of traveling by bus. The current crisis might become an opportunity to change our habits towards the use of sustainable mobility modes to ensure a cleaner and greener environment for the next generations’.
