In 2005, the Europe Direct service, staffed by a Chamber officer, began operating at LCCI’s offices. Throughout its operation, the service provided information on specialised European issues and organised a wide range of activities in schools and other venues, aiming to bring Europe closer to citizens.
LCCI’s offices also hosted a significant number of training seminars designed to prepare businesses initially for Cyprus’s accession to the European Union as a full member and subsequently for the adoption of the euro. LCCI’s close cooperation with the European Union and Limassol’s business community continued in the years following accession.
