The Limassol Chamber of Commerce and Industry will submit specific views in the light of the scheduled start of the Limassol Local Plan Review process, which is expected to get under way later in the current year. As announced by the Ministry of the Interior, the process of reviewing the four major Local Plans in Cyprus, including the one of Limassol will begin later this year, and the preliminary views of the stakeholders are expected by the end of the first quarter of 2019. Once finalized the new Local Plans will be in force all the way to the year 2027.
The Chamber has already set up a special committee which, through a series of meetings and after examining all aspects of the issue, will come up with specific recommendations, which will be consistent with the nature of the organization as a body whose main goal is to support entrepreneurship and promote the developmental and other needs of Limassol. Local Plans set out the strategic priorities for development and cover housing, commercial, industrial public and private development, including transport infrastructure and environment-related issues. They essentially consist of a series of documents intended to set out clear guidelines as to what development will and won't be permitted in any given area.
