Despite the small problems that have arisen, the two major public works in Limassol are underway to improve the road connecting Franklin Roosevelt Avenue to the Limassol promenade road and the widening and improvement of Agias Filaxeos street.
Burial after the archaeological findings
Regarding the first project, on March 16 at the stage of the construction works at the northern section of Agias Theklas street antiquities were discovered. Officers from the Department of Antiquities, because of the significance of the findings, judged that the reconstruction work could be done in a length of approximately 30 meters.
Furthermore, work on the utilities and sidewalks in this section are carried out normally by manual digging, while the contractor, An. Christou Properties and Constructions Ltd, performs both tasks in the remaining part of Agias Theklas street, having also been active in other sections (rectangular sewer at Syntagma Square, double rectangular sewer at Garylli River).
The excavations by the Department of Antiquities extend to a depth of 2 meters, and are expected to determine soon the appropriate method of burial of the archaeological finds.
In May the first phase of the work of Franklin Roosevelt connection to the promenade road with the road surfacing of Agias Theklas street is expected to be completed, as the final road surfacing will take place after the end for the entire project.
The project, which began on January 30, 2017, at a cost of € 2.52 million, is due for completion in the summer of 2018.
A phase every four months
The first phase of the project for the enlargement and improvement of Agias Filaxeos street in Limassol is expected to be completed in early May.

The second phase of the project will start at the station and will be extended to the northern end of the project Stelios Kyriakides street.
