Seventy copies of the book produced by the Limassol Chamber of Commerce and Industry on the occasion of its 50th anniversary, a publication that includes extensive references to the Commercial and Industrial Limassol of yesteryear were donated to the Limassol District School Board, with a view to being added to the libraries of all secondary schools throughout the district.
The books were handed over on behalf of the Limassol Chamber by Athos Tillyris, who, in addition to being a Board Member of the Limassol Chamber, was the person in charge of researching and authoring the publication. Mr. Tillyris referred to the role of the Chamber in the broader affairs of Limassol as well as to the interest of the business community in educational issues and the excellent cooperation of the Chamber with educational institutions such as the First Technical School where the Chamber awards prizes on an annual basis to the top graduates of the vocational department. He also expressed his confidence that the Chamber’s donation will be made good use of by students, providing access to several issues pertaining to the economic evolution of Limassol.
Receiving the books, the President of the Limassol District School Board, Dinos Ellinas, thanked the Chamber for the donation and its generosity. He noted that, besides the fact that any new addition to the school libraries is welcome, the specific publication, which refers especially to Limassol, cannot but be of particular interest to the students attending Limassol schools.
