Limassol Tourism Board develops innovative digital products to showcase the Archaeological Site of Kourio
Kourio is entering a new era of digital cultural heritage promotion, as the Limassol Tourism Development and Promotion Company (Limassol Tourism Board), with the support of the Deputy Ministry of Tourism, is moving forward with the development of innovative digital products that utilise Artificial Intelligence (AI).
The initiative forms part of the Limassol Tourism Board’s ongoing efforts to continuously upgrade and enrich the region’s tourism offering through the use of technology and the creation of new, contemporary experiences for visitors. The project aims to strengthen the international promotion of the Archaeological Site of Kourio, while showcasing both its iconic monuments and lesser-visited sites through modern forms of digital storytelling and technology.
A key element of the project is the creation of digital representations of the monuments as they appeared at the height of their historical significance, through three-dimensional reconstructions. At the same time, Artificial Intelligence will be used to bring scenes from the past to life. At the Ancient Stadium of Kourio, the project envisages the creation of digital representations of ancient athletic competitions.
Through this initiative, the Limassol Tourism Board seeks to connect history and culture with technology, enhancing Limassol’s cultural and overall tourism offering and enriching the visitor experience. At the same time, the project contributes to strengthening the appeal of the Archaeological Site of Kourio, attracting new visitors and further establishing the Limassol region as a modern and innovative destination.
