The European Parliament is organizing a general competition (grade AD 6) to establish a list of suitable candidates from which Cypriot citizens may be recruited. The European Parliament aims to recruit staff from as broad a geographical base as possible among nationals of EU member states. The primary goal of this special competition is to expand the pool of potential future hires and address the significant current imbalance and underrepresentation of Cypriot citizens among the staff of the European Parliament. The target number of Cypriot citizens is 15.
Job Description
The majority of positions at the European Parliament are based in Brussels, Luxembourg, and Strasbourg. Administrative staff in the Secretariat of the European Parliament perform duties related to administration, planning, and research in one or more of the following areas:
• Advising and supporting MEPs and parliamentary bodies
• Resource management
• Law
• Political information and communication
• Information Technology (IT), IT security, and safety
• Project management
General Criteria
• Be a citizen of the Republic of Cyprus
• Have fulfilled any military service obligations required by national law
• Provide the necessary guarantees of integrity required for the duties involved
Specific Criteria
Specific Criteria
• A completed university degree of at least three years, with a diploma officially recognized in an EU member state
• At least two years of professional experience relevant to the activities mentioned in the job description
• Thorough knowledge of the Greek language (language 1)
• Satisfactory knowledge of one of the other official languages of the European Union (language 2)
Procedure
The competition consists of two stages:
1. Pre-selection and Eligibility Check
• A pre-selection test in Greek, consisting of a series of multiple-choice questions via computer (40 questions)
• Verification of the specific eligibility criteria
2. Examinations
• A written test in Greek to assess candidates’ ability to analyze and summarize information
• An interview to evaluate candidates’ alignment with the core competencies of the European Parliament (during this stage, the selection board will also assess knowledge of language 2)
