CMMI’s first zero-emissions vessel “EVPLOIA APHRODITE” naming ceremony

The naming ceremony of CMMI’s first zero-emissions vessel “EVPLOIA APHRODITE” will take place on the 24th of October 2024. Her Excellency, the Shipping Deputy Minister to the President of the Republic of Cyprus Ms. Marina Hadjimanolis will be the honorary godmother of EVPLOIA APHRODITE.

By a libation of Commandaria, an ancient sweet wine documented in Cyprus from 800 BC and the world's oldest named wine still in production, her Excellency will bestow safekeeping for CMMI’s 1ST Electric Vessel [EV] and those who will embark on its voyages.

Some background information
EVPLOIA APHRODITE is a battery-driven fully electric vessel, designed and constructed to address the decarbonisation challenges of the coastal fleet of Cyprus.

It is the first zero-emissions and near-zero noise vessel to sail the coasts of Cyprus and a realistic solution for short-sea routes. It will act as a research platform for CMMI, and the national and international ecosystems, utilising its environmentally friendly and smart characteristics.
