The event "Round table discussions with our MEPs" organized jointly by the Limassol Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the European Parliament office in Cyprus was a great success.
On behalf of the European Parliament, Cypriot MPs Giorgos Georgiou, Niyazi Kizilyurek, Costas Mavrides, Eleni Stavrou and Loucas Fourlas were present, each of whom discussed with nine entrepreneurs-members of the Limassol Chamber of Commerce and Industry on issues related to their interests and responsibilities in the European Parliament, as follows:
George Georgiou Table: Challenges in the Work Environment – from Telework to Artificial Intelligence
Niyazi Kizilyurek Table: The Green Line Agreement – the importance of trade cooperation between the two communities
Costas Mavrides Table: Financial Sector, Social Housing, Minimum Wage
Eleni Stavrou Table: The volatile political situation in the Eastern Mediterranean, how it shapes the country's economic policy and the prospects of the economy due to the EU
Loukas Fourlas Table: European Year of Skills – reskilling and upskilling
The event began with a greeting by Chamber President Andreas Tsouloftas, who commended its realization for a second consecutive year, which, he said, was made possible due to the great satisfaction expressed for the corresponding event in 2022, both by LCCI members and MEPs. He also stressed the importance of this type of event, which enables direct two-way communication between businesses and Members of the European Parliament.
On behalf of the European Parliament Office, the Head of the Press Office, Thea Pieridou, addressed the event, praising the cooperation with the LCCI and referring to the work carried out at European Parliament level and the slogan Democracy in Practice, which is of particular importance in view of the upcoming European elections. The round table discussions lasted 60 minutes and the event ended with closing remarks by MEPs, with references to what they learned from the discussions and their final conclusions.
