The Limassol of yesterday and today – LCCI President addresses international conference

The economic and business profile of Limassol was outlined and analysed by the President of the Limassol Chamber of Commerce & Industry LCCI Andreas Tsouloftas, in a speech before the conference entitled Resilient Cities: London and Limassol.

Having made a brief reference to the historical development of Limassol's economy since the end of the 19th century, the Chamber President noted that today's Limassol is a truly multidimensional economy, with a dynamic private sector that makes its presence felt in virtually all areas of economic activity, from the primary sector, all the way to new technologies.

Mr. Tsouloftas made a concise reference to the special characteristics of each of the main sectors of the Limassol economy, emphasizing that the achievement of the multidimensional element is what has made Limassol comparatively more resistant to various crisis situations, such as the financial meltdown of 2013, or those caused by from external factors (regional or other conflicts, etc.).

He recognized that the present is also a difficult juncture due to the Russian-Ukrainian crisis, at the same time expressing the belief that, led by the private sector, Limassol has the ability to successfully cope with this challenge and face the future with optimism. The conference Resilient Cities: London and Limassol was organized with the Limassol Chamber member company Consulco, in collaboration with the LCCI and the organization New London Architecture.
