Limassol Welcomes Travel Accessible Tourism Professionals

The Limassol Tourism Board welcomed in mid-March a group of travel professionals from the UK and the Middle East, specialising in accessible holidays. The group was in Cyprus in order to get to know the existing infrastructure and prospects for further development in the field of Accessible Tourism. The familiarisation trip was an initiative of the tour operator Accessible Cyprus Travel.

This effort suits the commitment of the Limassol Tourism Board, as the official tourism authority in the Limassol district, to further promote the upgrading of the tourist product of the area so as to gradually become accessible to all, ensuring a barrier-free tourist experience.

In this framework, the Limassol Tourism Board is organising a seminar in April entitled ‘Accessible Limassol’. The Seminar invites front office employees, concierges, PR officers in hotels and other tourist-related businesses in the Limassol district to become more educated on how to best serve people with reduced mobility or other disabilities, provide the right information to enrich their tourist experience and assist them in ensuring a barrier-free holiday. Participants will be able to answer guests’ questions regarding the accessibility of different points of reference, distances, routes, mobility modes, services, etc. In addition to the seminar, an excursion will be organised to visit routes with easy access for those with disabilities.

Additionally, the Board recently received approval for an EU project in the field of sustainable mobility, with significant funding, which will lead to the creation of a more accessible Limassol for both local residents and visitors.
