Issues
pertaining to the development of mountainous areas, especially in the district
of Limassol, were discussed during a recent visit to the Limassol Chamber of
Commerce and Industry by the Commissioner for the Development of Mountain
Communities, Costas Hambiaouris.
In a
meeting with the Chamber President, Andreas Tsouloftas, Mr. Hambiaouris
outlined the mission of his office, which is directly accountable to the
President of the Republic, and also referred to actions already taken with the
aim of upgrading, at various levels, the mountainous areas, which would, among
others, reflect positively on the objective creating job opportunities and
averting urbanization. He also noted the readiness of his office for close
cooperation with the Chamber, given the fact that the latter is essentially a
body keen on the economic development of the entire Limassol district.
For his
part, Mr. Tsouloftas referred to the steadfast interest of the Chamber in the
development needs of the district, something that is underlined, among other
things, by the participation of the Chamber, indeed from the position of Vice
President, at the Limassol Development Company (ANELEM). He noted, moreover,
that the Chamber remains at the disposal of the Commissioner, among other
things for the promotion communication-wise of the multiple projects developed
by his office, including through the columns of Entrepreneurial Limassol, the
Chamber’s monthly electronic newsletter.
