Investors and Investment Funds from all over Cyprus and abroad attended with great interest the presentation of the Investment Platform for Troodos, which was created through the Socialino program of the Restart Program Package, starting with the communities of Platres, Pedoulas, Kakopetria, and Kyperounda. The presentation of the investment platform was welcomed by the Commissioner of Mountain Areas Mr. Costas Hambiaouris who declared his strong support and also the Government initiatives for Troodos, and the National Strategy for the development of Troodos.
The speakers were the president of the Troodos Network, Mr. Panayiotis Papadopoulos as the coordinator of the project, and presented the historic development of Troodos Resorts, the first investors who came 100 years ago and were amazed with the magical beauty of Troodos. Mrs. Antigone Kapodistria on behalf of the Deputy Ministry of Tourism presented the National Strategy for Rural Development and the incentives for investments in Troodos, and Mr. Yiannis Panayiotou on behalf of the HR Development Academy of Ernst & Young, stressed the importance of training and empowering the human resources of Troodos, in order to face the challenges and contribute positively to the sustainable development of Troodos. Finally, Christos Symeou on behalf of the consortium presented the Digital Investment Platform, and the tools for Investors using examples from Investment opportunities in Platres.
This was followed by a discussion and a networking lunch where attendees had the opportunity to submit their views and declare their interest in Troodos. The interest for investments in the mountainous areas, is already evident strongly in Platres, with the beginning of a big project by DTA named as Guru project, the Property Gallery Developers & Constructors, purchased and renovated one of the historic hotels, Petit Palais, and made their presence stronger in Platres, by the purchase of a listed building in the heart of Platres. Further the well-known chain PHC Franchised Restaurants Public Ltd, purchased another Historical Hotel, the Mount Royal, and two restaurants the International and the River Dale have been renovated and restarted by new investors. The value and potential of the mountains have now been put on the agenda of both public bodies and investors and a new era begins for the beautiful Troodos.
