The new Technical School of Limassol in Polemidia has entered the "last turn" before the start of its construction, to which the A' Technical School of the city will relocate by moving from the city center. As the Director of Secondary Technical Education, Elias Markatziis, told "Entrepreneurial Limassol", the new A' Technical of Limassol, which will be able to accept 700 students, aspires to attract children from the region.
As Mr. Markatziis explained, it is a big issue for technical education that there are no schools in the region, with the result of many children and parents not choosing it, so as not to be forced to take a bus every morning to go to the city centers, since there is a regional high school in their area. The Ministry of Education announced on June 20th, tenders for the construction of the New Technical School, together with branches of the Pedagogical Institute, in the parish of Agios Nikolaos in the Municipality of Kato Polemidia. The cost will come up to €27,715,000, out of which the 20 is intended for the Technical School and the rest for the Pedagogical Institute. The interested Construction Companies should submit their Offers by 9/9/2022, in order to be evaluated and awarded the project.
According to the proclamation, the duration of the construction will be 36 months and this will receive funding from the EU. The new school building will be state-of-the-art with fully equipped laboratories for the branches of Mechanical Engineering, Services, Industrial Design and Applied Arts. There is also provision for new majors, such as Renewable Energy, Digital Technology-Programming, Hospitality Management, Jewelry Design-Making and Clothing Design-Making. According to Mr. Markatziis, the construction will be completed within 2025. As it is well known, the spaces hosted by A' Technical School in the center of Limassol until now, will be given to the Cyprus University of Technology.
