The Children's Day care at the entrance of the Industrial Area of Agios Athanasios is almost ready and will serve families in need of the Municipality, but also mothers working in the industries of the area. The project will cost a total of €1.2 million and has been approved for funding by the European Union's Recovery and Resilience Fund. As the Mayor of Agios Athanasios, Marinos Kyriacou, told "Entrepreneurial Limassol", the works that are currently underway concern the completion of the playground outdoors and the equipment of the kitchen, remaining the equipment of the classrooms and the installation of air conditioners.
Marinos Kyriacou stressed that this Child Care Center is a very important project, especially for the workers in the industrial area, which had its difficulties, since initially the entire required amount had not been secured. Its creation was deemed necessary, since the population of the area increased rapidly, along with the care needs of the children of the workers, both during the morning and the midday hours. It should be noted that the effort for its construction began several years ago. The Children's Center will operate next September with three classes from the Community Welfare Council of Agios Athanasios, with a total of 56 children, aged two to four years.
Children attending kindergartens in the area, which operate until noon, will be transported by bus to the Children's Center for spending the afternoon. According to the Mayor, the Ministry of Education decided for this year not to operate the two sections of the pre-primary, due to difficulties that arose in the planning. Finally, it is worth mentioning that the creation of the Children's Center in collaboration with the Municipality of Agios Athanasios, was one of the main goals set by the Association of Industries of Agios Athanasios, since its establishment in 1986.
