My Mall is moving forward with expansions in the casino-resort area of western Limassol, to be implemented in three phases, involving investments exceeding €60 million. These include, in all likelihood, a 12-storey residential development.
As stated to “Entrepreneurial Limassol” by the CEO of My Mall Limassol, Mr. Andreas Chatzimitsis, construction is currently underway on a 2,500 square meter expansion to the south of the shopping center, specifically for Zara and Zara Home stores. This first phase of the expansion is expected to be completed by the end of June or mid-July, based on Zara and Zara Home’s new concept, which is already being implemented across Europe.
The second phase of the expansion has generated significant interest. A preliminary inquiry has already been submitted to the Urban Planning Authority regarding the type of development that could be approved. According to Mr. Chatzimitsis, there is a 99% probability that this phase will involve a residential development in a 12-storey building with an area of 7,000 to 10,000 square meters, expected to include around 100 apartments. He added that the final decision—whether the development will be residential or office-related—will be made by the Mall Owners’ Council within the next 15 days. A response from the Urban Planning Authority to the preliminary inquiry is also expected soon. This second phase is planned for the area south of My Mall, near the first roundabout of the casino-resort.
Mr. Chatzimitsis noted that the third stage of the expansion concerns a project to the northwest of My Mall, which involves an additional 10,000 square meters of commercial space. Applications for planning permits have already been submitted and the architectural plans have been prepared. The investment for the second and third expansion phases is estimated at €40 million, while more than €20 million will be spent by Zara and the shopping center for the first phase.
