The two-year Study Program 'Supply Chain Management and Maritime Studies' of the Post-Secondary Institutes of MIEEK completed ten years of operation this year. In 2016, the program saw its first graduates join the job market. In fact, some of the graduates of the last eight years are in management positions.
"It is with particular emotion," said Mrs. Lina Ellina, Academic Coordinator of the Program, "that I see most of our students employed in the wider field of shipping and supply chain before they even finish their studies. The comments we receive from the industry as well as from reputable academics outside the evaluation committees are very positive and encouraging."
The versatile combination of Supply Chain (contributing 10% to GDP) and shipping (contributing another 7%) is an asset that offers graduates multiple employment options. The program has demonstrated powerful action inside and outside classrooms with an emphasis on soft skills and networking. With participation in Erasmus programs, visits to companies and exhibitions, guest speakers, collaborations with other tertiary and professional institutions.
The courses are taught by experienced instructors who are within the industry by bringing the developments in the industry as they are evolving, long before they are written in textbooks. The courses are taught in the evening in order to provide employees with the opportunity to attend them without tuition. During the months of June and July, registrations are done online at mieek.ac.cy. Students are selected by scoring (without exams) according to the criteria found on the website.
The two-year Study Programme 'Supply Chain Management and Maritime Studies' of the Higher Public School of the Ministry of Education, Sports and Youth offers interested employees of companies, members of the Limassol Chamber of Commerce and Industry, positions to study on the occasion of its 10th anniversary this year and with the strengthening of its cooperation with the Chamber.
