The Limassol Tourism Board (LTC), in the context of the European Project ANDIKAT (Greece-Cyprus 2014-2020/INTERREG V-A), created a short animation video to showcase Dasoudi Artificial Reef and promote environmental protection. At the same time, a nine-minute 360⁰ video was created to demonstrate the beauty and special characteristics of the Artificial Reef as a diving spot. The video enables people that cannot dive due to health reasons to experience diving with the use of VR technology, enjoy a realistic experience exploring the wrecks and coming across the rich sea life of the area during their tour.
Both videos were created by the production company Musicera and beyond their online promotion, they will be used to educate the younger generations and cultivate love of the sea. Watch the animation video at Animation about Artificial Reefs in Limassol - YouTube
. The €3.2 million ANDIKAT project aims to create diving routes in protected sea areas in Eastern Mediterranean and to develop a network for diving tourism. Limassol is aiming to upgrade and create routes at the Dasoudi artificial reef and at the Amathus area, where the ancient port can be visited.
Additionally, the project focuses on the creation of a sculpture park in Dasoudi artificial reef, acquiring a dome to project a 180⁰ film about the sea to groups of children and adults, installation of equipment for access of people with disabilities in the sea, creating awareness through events, printed and electronic material and enabling beach accessibility for people with special access needs. The project has a three-year duration. The Limassol Tourism Board continues its efforts to further upgrade the tourist product of the region, and utilizes state-of-the-art European programmes such as ANDIKAT to ensure that Limassol as a destination remains at leading edge.
