Limassol Chamber Event - Fire Safety in Offices

The Limassol Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) hosted in January a very successful event on fire safety in office spaces. The event, co-organized by LCCI, the local Labour Inspectorate, and the Institute of Technology and Engineering - Cyprus Branch, featured presentation by Fire Safety Engineer Kellia Petrou and Fire Safety and Training Professional Augustinos Hadjiyiannis who analysed the importance of fire safety and the need of a correct assessment of risks involved in office spaces *.

The event began with a brief address by Chamber President Costas Galatariotis, who said it was a firm policy of the Chamber to bring to its members - employers and employees - reliable information and specialized knowledge on issues having to do with efficient but also safe entrepreneurship and noted that the option of focusing on fire safety in office space was based on the fact that unlike in areas that are considered to be naturally prone to fires and there is generally greater caution, when it comes to office space complacency can prevail which, however, should not be there. The presentations and the ensuing discussion kept the interest of the more than 60 participants uninterrupted, making the whole event last more than three hours!

* Copies of the very interesting presentations by Ms Petrou and Mr Hadjiyiannis are available from the LCCI office
