Limassol Chamber backing for IP Management in Horizon 2020

The commitment of the Limassol Chamber of Commerce and Industry to the objectives and aspirations of Horizon 2020, of which innovation is the key word, was expressed by President Costas Galatariotis in his address before a conference held recently in Limassol under the title ‘’IP Management in Horizon 2020 Programs’’

The event, hosted by the Cyprus University of Technology, featured a presentation my Marcia Trillidou on behalf of the European Enterprise Network (Cyprus), while the main speaker was Jorg Scherer of the Communications and Training Department of the European IPR Helpdesk. Scherer’s presentation consisted of a detailed analysis of the whole spectrum of issues pertaining to intellectual property which Horizon 2020 programs participants are well advised to be conversant with.

In his introductory address, the LCCI President thanked Scherer for coming to Cyprus for the purpose of sharing his expert knowledge and also hailed the success of the Cyprus University of Technology in bringing to Limassol a high-calibre event. He referred to the importance of innovation, pointing out that this not just a noble goal, but a must for any enterprise and any organization that wanted to move forward. With regard to the specific subject matter of the conference the Limassol Chamber President noted that to the extent that innovation, by definition, referred to the implementation, in practice, of novel ideas it was clear that intellectual property-related issues were becoming fundamentally important.
