The 62nd Annual General Meeting of the Limassol Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) took place with triumph, on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, at the City of Dreams Mediterranean - Integrated Resort, Casino & Entertainment. The event gathered state and city officials, business representatives, and members from across Limassol's business community.
In his address, LCCI President Mr. Andreas Tsouloftas highlighted Limassol’s crucial role in the Cypriot economy, stating, "Limassol continues to be the engine of the Cypriot economy, making a significant contribution once again this past year." He emphasized LCCI's commitment to supporting its members by providing the necessary resources, information, and guidance to help them grow in a modern and competitive business environment.
The President also highlighted the impressive growth of the private sector in Limassol, which has become a modern, multifaceted, and attractive destination. He stressed the urgent need for the implementation of the Technology Park and for prompt decisions regarding the Limassol Museum and the Tsirio Stadium.
Mr. Tsouloftas voiced his strong dissatisfaction with recent government announcements regarding development projects. He criticized that the latest government plans have once again left out Limassol, leaving it out of the agenda for major projects. This year’s Meeting focused significantly on issues affecting the city and district of Limassol.
The Meeting was addressed by the Honourable Minister of Energy, Commerce, and Industry, Mr. Giorgos Papanastasiou, who described the contributions of Limassol’s business community to the national economy as invaluable, noting the district’s enviable growth rates in recent years. He attributed much of this success to the initiatives and hard work of LCCI members.
The President of the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Stavros Stavrou, also extended greetings, stating, “The impressive development of Limassol in tourism, real estate, commerce, investments, and all sectors is surely a testament to the efforts of our Chamber, which is a great honour to you all.”
A particularly notable moment of the event was the presentation of an honorary plaque to LCCI's retired Secretary/Director, Mr. Christos Anastasiades, in recognition of his invaluable contributions to the Chamber.
LCCI extends its gratitude to all participants for their presence and contributions to the success of this year's General Meeting and reaffirms its commitment to supporting and guiding Limassol's businesses.
The Chamber's primary goals remain the strengthening of the local economy, the promotion of innovation, and the creation of a sustainable and competitive environment for all entrepreneurs.
