The 1st Euro-Mediterranean Conference and Exhibition 2016, is organized in TRAKASOL in Limassol, 14-16 April 2016. The Conference is focusing on “Smart Urban Development and Blue Growth opportunities for cities, communities and islands in the Mediterranean basin”.
The Conference and Exhibition is organized by Smart Cities Mediterranean Cluster (SMART-MED) managed by CNE Business Development Ltd, Papadopoulos & Schinis Productions Ltd, and in cooperation with the National Technical University of Athens and the KIOS Research Center for Intelligent Systems and Networks, of the University of Cyprus.
The conference theme focuses on the Mediterranean region
and in particular in cities and islands, attempting to highlight approaches,
solutions and technologies for their exploitation in the direction of support
of the cities as "smart cities" for the sustainable management of
their problems. An important dimension of these cities, which will be discussed
at the conference, is linked to the concept of "Blue Growth Opportunities",
and the sustainable development of tourism destinations in the Mediterranean,
covering inter alia "intelligent tourism", "intelligent
transport", "smart power".
The invitation for the submission of abstracts for scientific papers with a deadline on December 20, 2015 had a very satisfactory response from scientists and academics from universities and research centers from Europe, the USA, and the Middle East. Papers will undergo a peer review process in order to be included in the Conference Proceedings and be considered for publication in a book to be published by Springer Publications and a journal/special issue.
The aim of the Conference is to bring together academia, industry and local authorities, to present recent scientific knowledge developments and technology innovations/products/services to city representatives for serving their efforts to achieve smart and blue growth.
Conference sessions will be dedicated to presenting and exhibiting smart products and solutions and in presenting projects that will be submitted for funding to European initiatives, involving local authorities and telecommunications, transport, tourism and other industries related to the wider issues of smart cities and blue growth.
