It is often said that knowledge is not only acquired in the classroom or through books; and It is also said that commerce and shipping are primarily concerned with who you know and how well you are aware of the sector's developments. Within this framework, the Shipping - Purchasing and Supply Management Division of the The Limassol Post-Secondary Institutes of Vocational Education and Training is developing a variety of actions for the widest possible exposure of students to today's trade and industry, the ultimate aim being to integrate them into the labor market.
Visits have already taken place on at Frederick University, where students had the opportunity to hear and get to know the 'legend' of Cypriot shipping, Captain Adami, and at the Open Day of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers. Students also had the opportunity to attend the YoungShip seminar on The Rise of Soft Skills, a topic that touches on all aspects of commerce and entrepreneurship, not just shipping and shipping-related matters.
Just like every year, new entrants had the opportunity to meet with instructors and second-year students on the first day of the academic year, October 7, and on October 14 is the alumni day, which will feature ‘success stories’ of Institutes’ graduates. A visit / lecture is also scheduled at the Cyprus Institute of Marketing (CIM). It should be noted that Frederick University, CIM and ICS provide scholarships (50%, 60% and 100% respectively) for graduates of the in 'Purchasing and Shipping Management - Shipping'. Plans are also in place for events featuring guest speakers from the fields of Industry / Commerce / Shipping well, in addition to visits to company purchasing departments and warehouses. Finally, just like every year, students will have the opportunity to visit the Limassol Boat Show with their instructors.
