"Cohesion Policy: Support to Society and SMEs" was the title of a conference held recently in Paphos, in the framework of the European project "In4COHESION - Information and Awareness for Cohesion Policy through Media", with the active participation of the Limassol Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI). The aim of the conference was to inform the public about ways of accessing European funds for Small and Medium Enterprises and Local Authorities, as well as the presentation of various good practices. The Conference featured presentations by public, local and private stakeholders.
On behalf of LCCI, Senior Officer Nicolas Iordanou presented business opportunities available to SMEs through European programs. Mr. Iordanou referred to the Chamber's work in relation to the sector, as well as to the ways of making best use of the opportunities on offer and to strengthen the business ecosystem. At the same time, he briefed participants on the existing European projects involving the Chamber and the benefits to the stakeholders, especially in terms of the development of entrepreneurship and innovation.
The “In4COHESION” project aims at a more meaningful understanding of the role played by the European Union Cohesion Policy in Cyprus. Its objective is to provide the public with sufficient information on Cohesion Policy, its results, its role in achieving the EU's political priorities and its future. "In4COHESION" is implemented by the partners: IMH, European Office of Cyprus, University of Nicosia, Neapolis University/Paphos, Frederick University, Open University of Cyprus, Ministry of Education & Culture and Enoros Consulting.
The Limassol Chamber, in the context of its broader role in support of entrepreneurship and innovation in Cyprus, welcomes such public information initiatives and is always at the disposal of all companies and institutions to develop partnerships in that direction.
