The President of the Republic, Nicos Anastasiades inaugurated on May 6, the newly established Chamber Industrial Museum ‘Kyriakos Hamboullas’, which is located on the ground floor of the Limassol Chamber of Commerce and Industry premises.
Addressing the event, and having thanked the President
of the Republic for his presence, Limassol Chamber President, Costas
Galatariotis referred to the decision of the board of the Chamber, taken
several years before, for the creation of the Museum, with approval and support
by Limassol Municipality, and warmly thanked the donors of Museum exhibits,
thanks to whom the whole effort has been crowned with success. He thanked
personally each one of the donors: the Cyprus Electricity Authority, CYTA, the
Limassol Water Board, the wine & spirits industries KEO, ETKO and Chr.
Hajipavlu & Sons, the Moni and
Vassiliko Cement Factories,
the Remedica and Medochemie pharmaceutical industries, the Omikro Shirts Industry, the ΚΕΑΝ soft drinks industry, the Nemitsas turbine industry, Coca-Cola, the Lanitis and Gro Export Farms, Provita, Lellos Bookbinding and the Limassol Municipality.
Mr. Galatariotis also referred to the decision to name the Museum after the late Kyriakos Hamboullas, commending the former Chamber President’s contribution and personal virtues as well as the work done in support on entrepreneurship and towards addressing Limassol’s development needs throughout his 1974-87 tenure as Chamber President. He stressed, moreover, that the objective was to create a space honouring the industrial Limassol of yesteryears and one that would attract as visitors not only the members of the Chamber, but also the public in general and especially primary and secondary school pupils and students.
In his address, the President of the Republic
referred, among others, to the contribution of the late Kyriakos Hamboullas, an
outstanding Limassol businessman and Honorary President of both the Limassol as
well as the Cyprus Chamber, whose name has been given to the newly-established
Chamber Museum. He also hailed the work done by the Limassol Chamber in support
of entrepreneurship, which reflected positively on the local and the Cyprus
economy and congratulated all who had contributed to turning the Museum into
reality. Regarding the national economy he emphasized that the primary
objective of the government was to ensure that Cyprus remains on a steady
course of sustainable development.
