It is now certain that western districts of Limassol such as Zakaki, Agios Spyridonas and Polemidia, but also four units of exceptional importance, the casino resort "City Of Dreams Mediterranean", the shopping center "My Mall ”, the Port and the Limassol Hospital will be fully connected to the Limassol Sewerage system in the near future. Giannis Tsouloftas, Director of the Limassol-Amathus Sewerage Board (SBLA) told "Entrepreneurial Limassol" that although a sewage network has already been built in the specific areas, which is not yet of much use, as two large projects that are in progress must be completed in order for connection to become possible.
These are, the large pumping station "Z" in the Lady's Mile area and the sewage treatment and recycled water production plant, in Kato Polemidia. As Mr. Tsouloftas told us, despite delays and other issues, great progress is being made in both of these major infrastructure projects, and they are expected to be delivered to SBLA, which will put them into operation before the end of 2022. The Wastewater Treatment Plant is being built at a cost of €30 million, while the pumping station "Z" will cost €7 million.
According to the SBLA Director, at the end of 2022, or at the very beginning of 2023, the connection of the areas of Zakaki, Agios Spyridon and Polemidia will begin and SBLA is already making preparations so that it is ready in terms of human resources and systems, to respond to the expected great flow of requests for connections as soon as the projects are operational. Two major projects that will be connected to the sewerage system, at the same time, are the under construction "City Of Dreams Mediterranean" and "My Mall", in addition the Limassol Port (only a small part of it is currently connected) and the Limassol Hospital. Mr. Tsouloftas stated that SBLA is already in contact with all four of these large entities, in order to achieve their connection as soon as possible.
