A study will be commissioned in November to prepare the final plan for the renovation of Lady’s Mile. This is the last step required before upgrading the popular beach. "A big project for the people of Limassol is being implemented," Mayor Nicos Nicolaides told "Entrepreneurial Limassol". The completion of the study and the preparation of the tender terms for the project, are expected in 15 months, i.e. beginning of 2023, while in the middle of the same year the bids will be announced. Limassol Municipality of Limassol has undertaken the management and maturation of the project based on the preliminary master plan prepared by the Department of Urban Planning.
"The goal of the Municipality", Nicos Nicolaides pointed out, "is to promote the development of what he described as the most impressive coast in the eastern Mediterranean, in a way that is in harmony with the habitat of the adjacent salt lake, in order to become a great destination for every visitor". To this end, the project team of the Municipality will be supported by an Advisory Steering Committee of experts, which will provide consulting services at all stages of project maturity. Such will include: the finalization of the master plan, the preparation of an environmental impact study, securing environmental and urban planning permits, preparation of construction plans and preparation of tender documents.
The cost is estimated at €7 million and is expected to be covered by EU and Cyprus government. The project includes the construction of a light traffic road, parking lots, sewerage system, sidewalk - bike path, locker rooms and toilets, electricity and water supply in the area.
‘Lifting’ of seaside restaurants
In view of the upcoming drastic improvement of the area’s infrastructure, one by one the restaurants of the area are being renovated, to offer their guests upgraded services. Columbia Restaurants is preparing a new seaside hot spot on the beach, which will be a completely remodeled multipurpose dining and entertainment venue.
