One of Limassol's largest green lungs is
created at the
initiative of the pharmaceutical company Medochemie at an unexploited area in
Linopetra, next to the industrial area of Agios Athanasios. The modern park,
with an area of more than 30,000 sq.m. which will be named after Medochemie’s founder, Dr. Andreas Pittas, is expected to become a
point of reference and leisure,
but also an attraction for the residents of the whole of Limassol.
The cost of the configuration and maintenance
of the park "Dr. Andreas Pittas",
which will amount to around €2
million, will be taken over entirely by the company, under its Corporate Social
and Environmental Responsibility programme.
Speaking to "Entrepreneurial
Limassol", the Chairman of the Committee for Environmental Protection and Energy Saving of Medochemie,
Christakis Sergides,
said that "the plans are ready, and we are waiting for the approvals from
the relevant
authorities (Ministry of Energy, Trade and Industry and Agios Athanasios Municipality), to start the creation
of the park". The park will include, among other things, a
pedestrian pathway
with a bridge, sports areas, green routes, a small theatre, a children's play
area and parking. "It will be," added Mr. Sergides, "a large open green
space, that is
so much missing from Limassol today."
