The public Post-Secondary Institutes of Vocational Education and Training, has resumed its courses by returning to the premises where it operates, strictly adhering to the terms of the Health Ministry protocols for protection against COVID 19. The Institutes offer two-year high-quality training and education programs, in developing sectors, according Cyprus national the opportunity to acquire, improve or upgrade their professional qualifications and skills, to become more capable and efficient for employment and participation in the labour market at both local and European level.
With the announcement of the pandemic-related restrictive measures, the Institutes reacted immediately and began to responsibly provide students with online courses, activating existing platforms used long before the pandemic. The aim of the introduction of online education was to reduce the physical presence of students in the Institutes to offer the opportunity to more employees to join their programs.
The online courses during the restrictive measures period helped to not waste study time, the certified programs of the Institutes were not endangered, and the high quality of the provided education was preserved. Bearing in mind the above, all the branches of the Institutes meticulously organized the safe return of students to their laboratories so that the practical courses can be delivered not online, but in the premises of the School.
The physical presence of the students ensures the already high level of the School so that graduates have all the necessary knowledge and skills. For the same reason, it was decided to conduct examinations with the physical presence of the students. The pandemic and restrictive measures arising therefrom have predictably caused difficulties for students and staff.
