Limassol’s My Mall expansion, by some 6500 square meters will get under way shortly, catering to the needs of new brands and new shops that have long expressed interest in having their own space in this commercial centre. The expansion plans, which coincide with My Mall’s 10th anniversary, were unveiled to Entrepreneurial Limassol by the CEO, Andreas Hadjimitsis. He said the preliminary architectural design has already been prepared, it will be finalized by September, and then an application will be submitted for a supplementary Town Planning permit. Work is expected to begin around the end of the year and will not take long to complete short-lived as the construction will be metallic.
Overall, My Mall has been doing quite well over the past decade. The number of visitors increased from three million in 2010 to around five million nowadays and turnover likewise nearly double from €43 million to €85 million. Mr. Hadjimitsis further noted that My Mall is also looking forward to capitalizing on the developments projects under way in the vicinity, not least of which is the casino-resort. He clarified, moreover, that the upcoming expansion will not will not include a supermarket or a cinema, especially in view of the fact the such uses in other commercial centres, both in Cyprus and abroad did not turn out to be successful.
The planned expansion will be in a north-west direction and will include around 200 of the 1.600 already existing parking spaces, which will however be replaced by new ones. Moreover, part of the ground floor of the new building will be a covered parking place. The whole project will require expenditure of €10 million and will be completed within the year 2020.
