Limassol Tourism Board within the framework of the European project Civitas Destinations continues to actively promote the use of bicycles. Through various actions and events, the Limassol Tourism Board aims to offer the opportunity to people (both locals and visitors) the opportunity to get back on their bicycles for recreation and for transportation.
On Sunday, November 18th, 2018, the Panos Euripides Foundation, in cooperation with the Limassol Tourist Board, organized the cycling event ‘Ποδηλασία Αγάπης’. The charity event involved about 200 cyclists with two different rides, one ride of 90 km for experienced cyclists and another one of 9 km for all cyclists. Next Bike Cyprus offered free bikes for people who didn’t have a bicycle. Furthermore, before and during the event a radio contest was organized and a 400-euro bicycle was awarded, offered by the Limassol Tourism Board and the European Project Civitas Destinations.
The above event is a follow-up to previous actions of the Limassol Tourism Board in the field of cycling, including the creation of three tv spots and radio spots to introduce the new law about cycling, a photo exhibition entitled 'Discover Cyprus by bike’ at the Old Port and events for the European Mobility Week. On the 24th of November 2018 a Seminar about cycling took place aiming to inform citizens about the new law of cycling and providing tips and advice to cyclists by physicians.
