With the approval
of the Catering Arts program at the Post-Secondary Institutes of Vocational
Education and Training (MIEEK) in Limassol, the food sector has essentially
been completed.
For the first
time in Cyprus, a School of Higher Vocational Education manages to offer a
complete and innovative study proposal in the field of Catering and Food Arts.
MIEEK Limassol are pioneers and from September 2021 will be able to offer three
independent professional study programs in the field of Bakery-Confectionery,
Culinary Arts and Catering Arts. The three programs,
which are two years long with daily study, have been evaluated and certified by
the Quality Assurance and Certification Body of Higher Education. They offer
students all the necessary knowledge, skills and experience required by a
modern, demanding and competitive work environment.
Limassol now has its own Public School of Higher Vocational and Technical
Education, where students with an interest in the field of catering and food
can be trained in high demand professions, completely free of charge, with
state sponsorship and ensure their immediate employment , in the hotel and food
industry, or other sectors of the economy. This
success is the culmination of the gradual implementation of strategic
development and educational planning that aims at the establishment of MIEEK
Limassol as educational incubators of well-trained first line professionals. Also,
MIEEK Limassol is for all entrepreneurs and employers, perhaps the most
reliable solution in their continuous effort to find talented and competent
workforce.
Thus, the success of MIEEK Limassol in offering a complete and innovative
study proposal in the field of Catering and Food Arts fully reflects the effort
of continuous improvement made by the Directorate for the quality support and
development of the city's workforce. At the same time, the
Limassol MIEEK innovates in the pedagogical methodology of teaching, as trends
and developments in digital technologies have led to the internal development
of an innovative teaching and learning model. This model, for the first time in
Cyprus higher vocational education, introduces digital skills in the learning
process and in the wider learning environment of students in vocational
programs. The ultimate goal is to modernize and
upgrade the skills of front-line professionals in the catering sectors through
the acquisition of digital skills to become more efficient, productive and in
line with market trends.
