First phase of Limassol-Saittas motorway: Full steam ahead

Barring anything unforeseen, the route from Limassol to Platres up to the level of Palodia will be through a modern motorway. Construction works, which started last September, continue are continuing without a hitch, with earthworks and the building of culverts. As Thrasos Afamis, the District Public Works Engineer, told in "Entrepreneurial Limassol", works are proceeding according to schedule. 

The contracts for the project were signed on June 5, 2020, with Cyfield Construction and provide for an execution period of 30 months and a cost of €26.126.000 This first phase, 3.6 km long, concerns the section from the Spyros Kyprianou Sports Center to the Palodia exit. It will be a four-lane motorway with a central dividing islet, with an uneven junction in the Palodia schools area and a smaller roundabout at the point where the first phase of the road will end. The project also includes a secondary road network with a total length of 7 km with a total of four roundabouts, one overpass and one underpass. Regarding the second phase of the project, until the Alassa bypass, Thrasos Afamis estimates work on that will get under way immediately after the completion of the current phase.
